It’s snowing those big, fluffy, gently drifting flakes that make me long for a woodstove (next year, hopefully) and want to start putting up the Christmas decorations. I’ll take the dog out for a walk in it soon.
We’ve had Carter almost two weeks now, and despite a few issues (car sickness being one of the biggies), it’s going quite well. I have to keep reminding myself that a) he’s still adjusting to his new surroundings and to us, b) at one year old, he’s a “teenaged” puppy – not an adult dog and c) all things considered, he’s doing remarkably well with almost everything, especially the cats.
Saash is adapting. She smacked him hard on the nose yesterday for getting too close, but didn’t have her claws out – which I take to mean she was teaching him a lesson, rather than fearing for her life. Carter is learning to sit quietly around the cats. Grimmy is getting braver around Carter, but still runs from him, which triggers Carter’s “chase” instinct. We’re working on it.
In non-pet related news, tonight is the perigee full moon (closest, and therefore biggest and brightest full moon of the year). I hope the weather clears enough later this evening for us to see it in its full glory. With all the new-fallen snow to reflect the light it could be awesomely bright out there tonight, if the clouds clear up. I also hope the folks who have predicted major earthquakes as a result of the perigee are wrong.
I love perigee moons. They’re so peaceful and magical. I’m hoping for clear skies, too.
Wow, the same cat who hid under the sofa and behind the books on the case!
