My sister Cynthia came home from Oxford for the Christmas holidays with the news that she and her boyfriend Hal are engaged to be married. The date isn’t yet confirmed, but it will be either mid-July or late August, in Oxford. Which means a trip to the UK for us this summer!
We’ve met Hal once when they visited in the fall, and he’s lovely. I’m very happy for her, and it will be wonderful to see my friends in the UK again while we’re there. This does, however, mean a massive unexpected expense for us in a year that was already going to be very costly (the duplex in Montreal needs a new roof), so we’re going to be scrimping where we can, and I’m going to have to try even harder to find more freelance work.
